The Return To Biltmore

For Christmas my bf Jared and I received two lovely free tickets to the Biltmore Estate from his Mammaw and Pappaw. Jay and I finally got around to driving up to the Biltmore to have a "date day" this past Saturday. We had a lot of fun together while there touring the beautiful Home, and the garden grounds...although it was freeeeezing! Thanks so much Mammaw and  Pappaw for our lovely date day at the Biltmore!! =)

If you've never been to the Biltmore Estate and you have the time and the means to do so I highly recommend you going to visit. The estate is full of history and many stories of olde to tell. I mean honestly, I cannot even fathom how Mrs. Vanderbilt must have felt when her husband, sitting beside her, both traversing the long winding roads patiently in a carriage, and then turning the corner past the trees and seeing HER NEW HOME lying before her very eyes in all it's grand elegance and massive size! I bet Edith was speechless, to say the very least stepping foot in her new home for the first time with her hubby!

I've been to the Biltmore 4 times, and it never gets old. I see and learn something new every time I step foot in that grande monstrous house. This visit was no exception, and it was made all the more memorable and joyous because the man I love was at my side the entire time.

This time while Jay and I were walking through the House and touring it for ourselves we had uberous amounts of fun talking about all of the animals that adorned the wall, how rare they were, and then we marveled over the tapestries and tried to learn their stories, all the while I tried desperately to translate the Latin language that adorned them in my mind whilst in the grande dining room, so as I could share their olde words with my love..all the while the large pipe organ poured the sweet melodies of  "Ride of the Valkyries" by Richard Wagner down over the balcony and into the warm hearth, tapestried and wooden adorned room.

I wish I could have taken  pictures of the fab library room that the house holds, the cantilevered staircase and the many pieces of art throughout, but alas photography is not permitted within the house...sigh... I did manage to snap photos out in the gardens though, because photography is permitted on the grounds...at least!

*this one was actually taken a while back, not from this particular visit, but it is a fave shot of mine that has been re-edited*

I hope you all enjoyed seeing the Biltmore grounds vicariously through my eyes!

{{Snow Week}}

Hi there everyone!

     I know I've been absent for a while from my photography blog, but HONESTLY life has been unusually busy lately, that is as far as traveling the roads back and forth is concerned. This whole past week I spent time with my boyfriend Jared and his family....and yes, my dears, I got snowed in with them too while away and could not head back Home for the life of me. I also spun out on the ice and wrecked my car into someone's front yard before I could even make it out of Jay's neighborhood when I did try to leave Wednesday afternoon...so yes, the last few weeks have been kinda crazy, stress-filled and somewhat overly eventful at times. Although, I must admit that probably I wouldn't want to change a thing.....except maybe for having pulled that brobdingnagian krispy kreme donut move with my car "The Belle Mobile" on that wicked nasty ice...now that I would change!

     Anyway...Jared (my bf), Seth (my bf's younger bro) and I had a lot of fun traipsing through the snow covered Winter land this past week and I thought I'd share what Lila and I captured for ya'll on this go around. Sadly, I did not get a self portrait, but you're probably better of not having seen my page boy hat covered head that was adorned in piggy tails....yeah....

Until more captured photographic moments present themselves...
Sarah E.

P.S. Which photos are your faves? I'm just curious.... :)
